Edison Lighthouse – Love grows (where my Rosemary goes) (Leaping Ahead #221)

Leaping Ahead Project 2016 #221: 160808

[A song for the 1970’s (8)]

Released in January 1970, the song became an overnight hit, making a slot on the weekly BBC show ‘Top of the Pops’ an inevitability. One problem – the group didn’t actually exist! So it was quickly cobbled together from a number of session musicians by prolific session singer and writer Tony Burrows. The show went ahead; the song’s popularity mushroomed rising to No.1 in the UK, No. 5 in the US and No. 3 in Canada; but the band sadly entered the annuls of history as a ‘one hit wonder’. What a hit though!
