Leaping Ahead Project 2016 #182: 160630
[A boy band song]
Released in October 1978 and backed with ‘No Entry’ on the B-side, this came from the band’s second studio album “That’s Life”. It reached number 10 on the UK Singles Chart for 8 weeks.
Although I never went out and actually bought the single, the song and the ‘Top of the Pops’ footage is as fresh today as if it were yesterday. Forty-four years ago though! Hair today gone tomorrow!
In 1999, The Magnetic Fields released their sixth studio album – a three volume concept called ’69 Love Songs’. All were written by frontman Stephen Merritt. A decade later, the band played the whole album live over two consecutive nights at London’s Roundhouse. I was there.
From the fourth studio album by the late Jeff Healey; 1995’s ‘Cover to Cover’. “Stuck in the Middle with You” was written by Gerry Rafferty and Joe Egan and released on the ‘Stealers Wheel’ self-titled debut album in 1972.
…this one’s dedicated to my youngest daughter – Holly…
…this one’s dedicated to my middle daughter – Gracey…
[The repeated chorus kick-line to this tune is the word ‘crazy’. But the way Karl sings it, its sounds a lot like ‘Gracey, Gracey, Gracey’]
…this one’s dedicated to my son – Ed…
