Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats – SOB (Leaping Ahead #139)

Leaping Ahead Project 2016 #139: 160518

[A song for the 2010’s (5)]

Released as the lead single from their self-titled debut in August 2015, Rateliff told Rolling Stone that the song is, at heart, a troubled song about drinking your life away after a break-up. He also told the BBC that the song is a “joke song” and originally his band didn’t plan to record it, but due to positive reception (Jimmy Fallon’s ‘The Tonight Show’), did so and released it as a single.
