Released the previous winter ‘Going up the Country’ became the unofficial theme song of the Woodstock music and arts fair in August 1969. Featuring on Canned Heat’s third album ‘Living the Blues’, the song was based on ‘Bull Doze Blues’ – a trad blues number recorded in 1928 by Texas bluesman Henry Thomas.
