The venue – Brighton’s Concorde II. The date – Thursday 16 October 2014. The band – Buzzcocks. This was the third time I’d seen them live; once back in the day (1979), last time, also at Concorde II about six years ago and last night. Pleased to say that they absolutely haven’t lost it, playing a blistering selection from their ample back catalogue and from the new album – “The Way” – of which this was the ante-penultimate slot on the 11-gig supporting UK tour.
Support was from “The Dollyrots” – a thunderous three-piece from Los Angeles. Not a band I’d come across before but if (like me) you want to find out more, check out their website here.
Brighton’s Concorde II is one of my favourite live venue’s in the city. Nestled underneath Victorian esplanade arches just back from the beach, it houses a grade II listed Victorian lift, recently restored and in full working order.
