One song per day along with an explanation of why you picked it. Day 13 – a song that reminds you of a former friend
Bit of an odd choice today I thought as I can’t actually think of anyone who used to be friend but is no longer. However, I do have some very long distance friends, some of whom I’ve not seen for years. So today’s choice is dedicated to John Hodgkins.
Renaissance – Northern Lights (1978)
John emigrated to New Zealand at the end of the 1980s. We’ve seen him off and on since and have kept in touch from time to time. But it’s been a while now. When he left, John gave me the bulk of his record collection and, although he was a massive Renaissance fan, I’m afraid I never have been; suffice to say that the albums didn’t stay that long with me.
Having said that, ‘Northern Lights’ – their only real single – remains a classic and one which I actually quite like. So I’m not all bad.
